Airline Stocks Outperforming (JBLU, DAL, AMR, ALK, UAUA)

Airline stocks gained Monday, outperforming the wider market following a positive economic report for the European Union and solid gain on JetBlue shares following upgrade.

JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) is the biggest stock gainer within the sector and soared 6.46% to $6.92 after climbing to its 52-week high of $6.94 earlier in the session.

Hudson Securities upped the company’s rating to “Neutral” from “Sell”, citing the pilot strike at company’s rival Spirit Airlines. "Revenues captured from Spirit flying could provide modest upside," analyst Daniel McKenzie said.

 

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) is also moving higher by 3.30% to $13.89 with over 3 million shares. Today, Deutsche Bank initiated coverage on the stock with a “Buy” and set a $17 price target.

So far this year, the stock has jumped over 22%. The median Wall Street price target on the stock is $19 and the high target is set at $21 with majority of analysts have a Hold rating on the company’s stock. The stock is trading above both the 50- Day Moving Average and 200-Day Moving Average prices are $13.06 and $12.52 respectively.

 

AMR Corporation (NYSE:AMR) is among the most active stocks and climbed over 3% to $8.51 with over 2.78 million shares. Today, Deutsche Bank initiated coverage on the stock with a “Buy” and set a $14 price target.

 

Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK) surged 1.75% to $51.78 after rising to its 52-week high of $51.89. Today, Deutsche Bank initiated coverage on the stock with a “Buy” and set a $70 price target.
