California Teen Stops Runaway Bus, Handed Detention

A California teenager may have saved some lives on Wednesday but her reward didn’t exactly match her accomplishment as she was hit with a detention for skipping school when she stopped the out-of-control bus she was on.

As it tuned out Amanda Rouse, 15, was supposed to be at Marina High School but hopped a bus packed with elementary students because she had been feeling sick at school.

Rouse was called into action when the driver of the bus fell out of her chair and hit her head. At that point the teen managed to get to the brakes and stopped the bus after it had slammed into a pair of parked cars.

The action may have saved several kids from injuries but Rouse was still handed a Saturday detention for skipping school.
