R.E.M. to Perform at Royal Albert Hall in London, England on March 24

Legendary alternative rock band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees R.E.M. will be following their stop at SXSW in Austin, TX with a performance at the Royal Albert Hall on March 24.

Formed in 1980 by Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck and Bill Berry developed a massive following in Athens, Ga. and quickly became a college radio station favorite. Their first few years were marked by success with singles such as Radio Free Europe and Gardening at Night and by the time they released their debut album Murmur in 1983 they were well on their way to stardom.

In 1987 they released the single “The One I Love” which brought them mainstream success and they’ve never looked back. Along the way they influenced bands such as Sonic Youth, Nirvana, the Replacements and several others.

Following their performance at the Royal Albert Hall R.E.M. will follow with several shows in North America beginning in late May.
