2010 FIFA World Cup Scores: Switzerland Shocks Spain, Shares Group H Lead with Chile

Switzerland has pulled off the biggest upset of the 2010 FIFA World Cup thus far, stunning Spain on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory in Group H play.

After a scoreless first half the Swiss found the back of the net early in the second as Eren Derdiyok cut his way into the box and after making his way around Spain’s goalkeeper Iker Casillas he went to the ground on a desperate tackle by Gerard Piqué but Gelson Fernandes was there to jump on the loose ball and put it home for the lone goal of the match.

Spain had their chances throughout the match and controlled much of play but never capitalized on their opportunities, leaving them in a position where they now sit three points behind Switzerland and Chile in Group H action.
