Frank Quattrone, the once-prominent financier, announced Tuesday that he is launching a tech-focused banking and advisory boutique named the Qatalyst Group.
Qatalyst Partners, Quattrone's new firm, has the support of several stalwarts in Silicon Valley, such as Eric Schmidt, the chief financial officer of Google, and Jim Breyer, a financier behind Facebook.
Quattrone was the head of technology banking at Morgan Stanley, before moving with much of his team first to Deutsche Bank and later to Credit Suisse at the height of the technology boom. He was most closely associated with ground-breaking IPOs like the launch of Netscape.
Quattrone's career was derailed after he was charged with obstruction of justice during a Federal probe.
