Spring season starts Thursday as the vernal equinox begins this year on March 20.
The vernal equinox officially occured at 1:48am EST, making Thursday the first day of Spring in 2008. Spring will kick in until the summer solstice on June 21, which is the start of the summer season.
The vernal equinox is the moment at which the sun passes directly over the Equator.
While the Northern Hemisphere experiences the vernal equinox, the Southern Hemisphere will observe their autumnal equinox, starting the fall season.
