Amber Alert Hoax Ends in Tragedy as 9-Year-old Found Dead

A 9-year-old Bakersfield, California boy who had been reported kidnapped by a friend was found dead hours later, having fallen in a hole and buried by dirt.

Police had initiated an Amber Alert for Zane Newton following another boy’s report that he had been playing with Newton when a masked man pulled up along side them and began firing a gun. The playmate then told police the man took Newton.

The area in which the boys were playing was searched but no evidence of gunshots was found. A few hours after the Amber Alert was issued police found the body of Newton completely buried by dirt.

Reports have said that Newton fell in a hole and the dirt collapsed around him.
