Sara Jane Olson Released From Prison

Former Symbionese Liberation Army fugitive Sara Jane Olson has been released from prison. Olson was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the 1975 attempt to bombings bomb police cars. She was sentenced to 6 years in prison for the 1975 shooting death of a person during a bank robbery. Olson was serving the sentences concurrently.

Soon after she was charged with the attempted car bombing in 1975, Olson disappeared. She reinvented herself as a housewife and changed her name from Kathleen Soliah to Sara Jane Olson. Olson had a husband and three young daughters when she was caught in 1999 after her mini van was pulled over by police.

Olson was returned to California for trial and pleaded guilty to the car bombing and the death of the bank customer.

Authorities say Olson was released from prison on Monday and is now with her family. Details of her parole are still being worked out.
