Central Park Jogger had been Training for Army when Attacked

The Central Park jogger who was attacked on Thursday evening was released from a hospital on Friday following treatment for a badly slashed arm and leg.

Johnny Reberon, 23, had been jogging through Central Park around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday as preparation for his recent decision to join the Army.

According to Reberon two men jumped him and slashed his arm and leg before taking his wallet and iPod. Reberon had a cell phone tucked in his sock and called 911 but couldn’t manage to talk; two bicyclists spotted him and provided help.

The attack occurred near the same spot as the infamous “Central Park jogger” attack in 1989. That attack left Trisha Meili in a comma for 12 days before she began a long recovery.
