Corn Flake Shaped Like Illinois Sells for $1,350

In another sign that people will buy anything, the owner of a trivia Web site purchased a corn flake that resembles the state of Illinois for an astounding $1,350.

The previous owners of the corn flake, two sisters from Virginia, put the item up for sale on eBay about a week ago and even made appearances on national talk shows boosting interest in their item.

Melissa and Emily actually started their auction more than a week ago but eBay pulled the item because it violated their food policy. The sisters then decided to auction off a coupon that would allow the winner to redeem the paper for the corn flake.

Monty Kerr bit and is now the owner of the coupon that will allow him to take ownership of the Illinois-shaped flake. Kerr said his plans are to include the flake in a traveling museum of pop culture items.
