University of Iowa on Alert after Shooting Near Campus

The University of Iowa is currently on high alert after a shooting near the school’s campus. A text messaging reading, “An active shooter is reported to be in the Iowa City Area. He is a white male in his mid 40s driving a 1998 Tan Toyota Sienna Minivan, Iowa License plate 501-BLO. If you see it call 911 from a safe location to report shooter sighting,” was sent a warning to students, professors and staff.

According to police the shooter reportedly shot several family members at a nearby house and now on the run.
