Kentucky Fried Chicken will now add Kentucky Grilled Chicken to its menu and its storefront after its testing period is complete.
Colonel Sanders' famous Original Recipe fried chicken will now have a new neighbor on the menu. Chicken buckets will still feature Sanders, the founder of KFC, but will get a redesign.
KFC's Kentucky Grilled Chicken is currently being tested in Indianapolis, Colorado Springs, San Diego, Oklahoma City, Jacksonville, Fla., and Austin, Texas. Kentucky Grilled Chicken is expected to be unveiled nationwide in early 2009.
The company says prices for grilled and fried chicken will be comparable, but the grilled chicken will have far less calories.
KFC executives said the chain is not straying from its fried chicken, which is obviously its most famous product. New fried chicken items are planned this summer.
