California Summer Camp Announces Expanded 2008 Program

The leading academic summer camp, SuperCamp, announces an expansion of its California summer camp programs in response to the growing demand witnessed in recent years.

SuperCamp’s California summer camp presence will expand in 2008, it was announced today by Bobbi DePorter, president of the life skills and academic summer camp.

SuperCamp will run nine of its Senior Forum teen summer camps in California at three locations. Its Northern California summer camp venue is Stanford University, which will host four of the teen programs. SuperCamp has two Southern California teen summer camp locations: Pitzer College, one of The Claremont Colleges in Claremont, and Cal State San Marcos in North San Diego County.

“This expansion of our teen summer camps is in direct response to the overwhelming demand we have seen in recent years,” said Ms. DePorter. “Parents tell me that SuperCamp is the best investment they’ve ever made in their teens.”

Each of these three California summer camp locations also will run SuperCamp’s Junior Forum program for students entering grades 6-8 in the fall of 2008. Cal State San Marcos will operate two additional programs, a seven-day Youth Forum program for kids going into grades 4 and 5 in the fall and a three-day Parent Weekend for any parent with a child in SuperCamp.

In addition to its California summer camps, SuperCamp is held at four other colleges across the U.S., from the University of Washington in the northwest to Wake Forest University in the southeast.

Based on accelerated learning methods that Ms. DePorter first applied with entrepreneurs almost 30 years ago, SuperCamp is an intensive residential summer program that has graduated over 48,000 students worldwide in its first 26 years. In addition, Ms. DePorter’s company, Quantum Learning Network, trains teachers in these same learning techniques in schools throughout the United States.

A study with over 6,000 graduates of SuperCamp reveals that 73 percent of graduates report achieving higher grades after attending SuperCamp. A remarkable 98 percent of graduates indicate they continue to use the skills they learned following camp, 84 percent say their self-esteem improved and 81 percent note an increase in confidence.
