A woman and four children have been found dead after a fatal shooting in an Iowa City home Monday morning.
The house was found unlocked by officers who replied to the dispatched call. Officers located five bodies inside, but were not able to locate the adult male resident, Steven Sueppel.
The family's van was missing. Sueppel's disappearance makes him the prime target as the shooter in the killings.
The news of the shooting caused the University of Iowa to be on high alert. Text messages and e-mails were sent to students, alerting them of the shooting and information on Suppel and the family van for students to be on the look out.
The classes at the University of Iowa remained in session.
The story was first investigated by the Iowa City newspaper, the Press-Citizen. The Daily Iowan and the Cedar Rapids Gazette also investigated the information on the shooting.
