Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) suffered an outage Monday that will last at least five hours.
The movie rental website was undergoing standard maintenance, but something went wrong. The outage happened around 11am EST on Monday morning.
Netflix.com, which has 7 million subscribers, continued to ship DVDs after the outage began. The company is unsure whether the outage affected the site's entire database.
Since October, the company's shares have doubled in price. At Monday's close, Netflix ended the day at $38.17, but during the day, the stock price reached its 52 week high of $39.65.
The company's site, located at http://www.netflix.com, also went down for an extended period last July. The cause was never disclosed.
