Hillary Clinton has admitted that she “misspoke” when describing her visit to Bosnia in 1996.
In her description of the goodwill trip Clinton said “I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.”
That account was proven false after video footage of her arrival surfaced showing the then first lady greeting military personnel as well as Bosnia’s acting president at the time.
Clinton had been accompanied on the trip by comedian Sinbad as well as singer Sheryl Crow, neither of whom recalled the events that Clinton described. On Tuesday Clinton admitted she made a mistake saying, “This has been a very long campaign. … Last week for the first time in 12 years or so, I misspoke.”
