Summer Beauty Club: Get Rough Feet Ready for Summer

In the summertime, many people are wary about setting foot outside the house in their favorite flip-flops or sandals. Discover how to transform cracked heels and callused toes into touchable tootsies with this easy foot care routine.

It might feel like scaly, rough feet are here to stay. Fortunately, there are some simple steps to make the lowest extremities more attractive for summer footwear and bare feet at the beach. Here’s how to relieve cold-weather roughness and get summer-ready feet in no time, with Skincare-News.com’s latest article, “Getting Rough Feet Summer-Ready.”

File those feet. Foot files and exfoliating foot scrubs are a dynamic duo when it comes to removing rough skin. Try slathering a foot scrub or exfoliant on a foot file and smoothing it over rough areas like the toes, heels and the balls of feet. The big toes are especially prone to calluses, so show them some extra attention.

Never skip moisturizer. Moisturizing the skin plays a big role in making feet look and feel healthier and more attractive. After rinsing feet, apply a hydrating cream immediately to the skin to retain some much-needed moisture. Skincare experts at Princeton University recommend using moisturizers containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which help to remove dead skin and clean pores and expose sought-after smooth and radiant skin.

Save feet and space. Foot products tend to be greasy. So after exfoliating and moisturizing the feet, give them a little extra cushion — and save the floor from a mess — by slipping on a pair of washable furry flip flops, which are cooler in warmer months than full slippers. Slide on some thin socks before getting into bed each night. This helps to seal in moisture, and keeps lotion from rubbing off feet and onto the sheets.
