Wimbledon 2010 Round 1 Results: Venus Williams Advances with Straight Set Win Over Rossana De Los Rios

Venus Williams needed just over an hour to move into the second round at Wimbledon as the American overwhelmed Paraguay’s Rossana De Los Rios in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 on Monday.

Venus simply had too much power, sending six aces past De Los Rios while hammering out 31 winners. The American managed to break her opponents serve on five of her eight opportunities, handling her first and second serve with relative ease throughout the match.

Venus Williams has seven Grand Slam singles titles, five of them at Wimbledon and another two at the U.S. Open. The American has reached the finals at the Australian Open and the French Open but lost to her sister, Serena Williams, in both of those Grand Slam finals.
