An independent midstream energy company, Crosstex Energy is engaged in the gathering, transmission, treating, processing and marketing of natural gas and natural gas liquids.  The company connects natural gas producer wells in its market areas to its gathering systems, treats natural gas to remove impurities, processes natural gas for the removal of natural gas liquids, fractionates natural gas liquids into purity products and markets the products for a fee, transports natural gas and provides it to numerous markets.

The company is operated into two segments, Midstream and Treating.

Midstream is focused on gathering, processing, transmission and marketing of natural gas and natural gas liquids.

Treating is focused on the removal of impurities from natural gas.

Primary assets of the company include 5,000 miles of natural gas gathering and transmission pipelines, 12 natural gas processing plants and four fractionators.
