Richard Widmark, Oscar Nominated Actor, Dies at 93

Richard Widmark, the Oscar-nominated actor whose career spanned six decades, died on Monday at the age of 93.

 

Widmark earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for the 1947 film “Kiss of Death,” the film happened to be his first big screen appearance. Widmark actually won the Golden Globe in 1948 for Most Promising Newcomer for his performance in "Kiss of Death."

 

The popular Hollywood actor went on to star in “Broken Lance,” “Murder on the Orient Express,” “Against All Odds,” and “Two Rode Together.”

 

Widmark died in his Roxbury, Conn. home after battling a long illness.
