Wimbledon 2010 Round 1 Results: Serena Williams Takes Care of Michelle Larcher De Brito in Straight Sets to Advance

Serena Williams began her Wimbledon title defense with a relatively easy win on Tuesday, taking care of Portugal’s Michelle Larcher De Brito in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 at the All England Club.

Serena simply dominated with her serve, hammering out 15 aces and won points on all 27 of her first serves put in play. The number one seed also collected an astounding 47 winners compared to just six for her opponent and she never gave her a break point opportunity.

Williams has achieved a career Grand Slam with five wins at the Australian Open (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010), three titles at the U.S. Open (1999, 2002, 2008), three at Wimbledon (2002, 2003, 2009) and a French Open title (2002).
