Finding the perfect automatic responder (autoresponder) can be an uphill battle. Silverpop is a fresh face in the crowd, but while they offer some impressive and cutting edge features, it's important to dig deep and ask the hard questions. I recently grilled a sales rep at Silverpop about the top three concerns I have about automatic responders in general, and he was cool enough to give me the raw deal about who Silverpop is right for, and more importantly, who it's not.
I uncovered three crucial facts about Silverpop that will help you make a more educated decision - Of course, you shouldn't just take my word for it - an ounce of research in picking the right automatic responder for you can mean a pound of profit if you find the right fit your business…
Fact 1 about Silverpop: This is cool :-) Silverpop is the ONLY automatic responder I've found that sports send time optimization. That means Silverpop will track each of your subscribers, and remember when they opened up your email. Then, it intelligently sends your emails to your subscribers when their most likely to get a favorable response. In this era of overcrowded inboxes, having your email show up on top of the stack when your subscriber checks the inbox is a very, very cool feature.
Fact 2 about Silverpop: Great Deliverability. Silverpop sports delivery rates around 96% - which means that the vast majority of your valuable subscribers will actually get your mail. If you're currently getting 80%-86% then switching to Silverpop could mean an immediate bump of 10%-16% in delivery. Of course, more mail delivered means more cash in hand, so that's a serious gold star for Silverpop.
Fact 3 about Silverpop: API Integration...check! Silverpop is targeted at larger businesses, in particular, at self sufficient marketers who know their way around a marketing funnel. They boast API integration with SalesForce, which means if you're already using SalesForce as your CRM then you're in luck.
While all of this is cool, there is a serious downside to Silverpop... If you're just getting started with email marketing, then Silverpop might be out of your price range. If spending $700 or more to get started (and signing a one year contract) sounds like it's out of the question, then Silverpop is probably not for you. (I asked about trial periods and sadly, they don't offer one at this time). If you're on the fence about Silverpop, and the price hasn't already scared you away then I highly recommend calling them up and asking your own series of hard questions. The number I called was 1-866-SILVPOP, and the rep I talked to was informative and friendly.
Picking the right automatic responder for your email marketing campaign is a big decision, and it's not one to be taken lightly. Get locked into a contract with Silverpop or ANY service
that doesn't suit your needs and you'll regret it for years to come, even after you've moved on. Opportunities and profits lost from a bad fit can seriously haunt you… I speak from experience. But regardless of whether Silverpop is a good fit for your business, here's a hard question for YOU…
Are you 100% convinced that your email marketing campaign and overall online marketing strategy are going to produce a high ROI? For instance, did you know that just the content of
your subject lines can mean the difference between an email marketing campaign that flops, and one that takes off like a nuclear powered rocket ship? It doesn't end there.
