Delta and American Airlines Ground Planes for Inspection

For the second straight day airline passengers were scrambling to figure out if their flights had been cancelled following a decision by Delta and American Airlines to ground several planes for inspection.

American Airlines began grounding planes on Wednesday affecting 325 flights and on Thursday opted to cancel an additional 132 flights as they continued to inspect wiring bundles.

The number of Delta flights cancelled for Thursday was not specified but the airline expected to be fully functional by Saturday.

Both Delta and American are concentrating their inspection efforts on proper spacing between wires in their planes auxiliary hydraulic system. According to the Federal Aviation Administration those wires must be spaced to exact specifications.

Passengers are encouraged to check their flights before arriving for travel.
