Herb Peterson, Egg McMuffin Creator, Dies at 89

Herb Peterson, the creator of McDonald’s Egg McMuffin, has died. The 89-year-old passed away in his Santa Barbara home on Tuesday, according to a Southern California McDonald’s official.

Peterson first became involved with McDonald’s as the vice president of the company’s advertising firm. He wrote the fast food chain’s first slogan, “Where Quality Starts Fresh Every Day.” Peterson later became a franchisee. He created the Egg McMuffin in 1972.

 

He was currently the co-owner of six McDonald’s restaurants in the Santa Barbara area.

 

Peterson is survived by his wife and four children.
