BPs Tony Hayward and the Gulf Oil Spill

Gulf Oil Spill Eternal Tragedy

BP’s Tony Hayward in hot oil after a lavish weekend cruising his yacht in the ripe crystal clean seas of the Far East. The press has had a field day with Hayward and his constant PR stunts but no matter the situation he keeps smiling.

His calm cool collective attitude is what has the media all over his case. Tony Hayward’s 2009 salary was approximately 4.7 million. Some are wondering if Hayward deserves a salary in 2010 at all after this mess. A writer for daily finance has called for him to go without pay this year and return a portion of his earnings in 2009.

According to the Associated Press, Hayward told the House and Senate on June 17th that he's "deeply sorry" for the mistake, insisting that safety is a priority for the company and that he's just as devastated as the rest of the country.
