Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is now in Washington where he will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama to discuss a range of issues that will likely include trade and economic issues as well as sanctions against Iran.
Prior to his first official trip to Washington the Russian president was in California where he toured Silicone Valley, visiting several high-tech companies with hopes that his country could emulate their model.
While in California Medvedev actually set up a Twitter account using the name KremlinRussia and informed the world of his new account by tweeting “Hello everyone, I am now on Twitter.”
Medvedev has been pushing for Russia’s economy to become more diverse, fearing that an absolute reliance on the oil and gas industries could leave the country vulnerable in times of economic troubles. The Russian president has said he would like to see his country bank on intellectual resources rather than natural.
