Tibetan Exiles and Monks Attempt to Storm Chinese Embassy in Katmandu, 130 Arrested

Nearly 200 Tibetan exiles and monks attempted to rush the Chinese Embassy in the Nepalese capital of Katmandu on Sunday but were quickly beaten back by police wielding bamboo batons.

While protests outside the Chinese Embassy are nothing new this was the first time demonstrators actually tried to enter the compound. Police arrested at least 130 of the demonstrators and several people, including police officers, sustained injuries.

Once again the protests addressed the recent crackdown by Chinese authorities on demonstrations in Tibet.
