3rd graders in Waycross, Ga. were reprimanded Tuesday after school officials foiled their plot to kill their teacher.
Police investigated the incident at Center Elementary School in Waycross, a far southern Georgia town with a population of 15,000.
The group of third graders consisted of about nine to ten students, who all had distinct roles in the plot. The children, ages 8 and 9, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair.
The 3rd graders could be expelled from Center Elementary School, but they are too young to be charged with a crime under Georgia law.
Police seized a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape, electrical and transparent tape, ribbons and a crystal paperweight from the students, who apparently intended to use them against the teacher.
The target was a longtime teacher who specializes in teaching third graders who suffer from a variety of learning disabilities, including attention deficit disorder, delayed development and hyperactivity.
