ATA Airlines filed for Chapter 11 status on Wednesday and immediately cancelled all flights.
According to the filing the Indianapolis, Indiana-based charter airline cited financial problems for the decision, noting “the loss of a key contract for our military charter business.”
ATA airlines had 29 aircrafts in their fleet, including Boeing 737-800s, Boeing 757-200s, Boeing 757 300s, DC10s and Lockheed L-1011s.
Founded in 1973, ATA employed more than 2,200 people.
