Robert Mugabe Concedes Defeat in Zimbabwe’s Presidential Election

According to a report from the South African daily Business Day, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has conceded defeat in the country’s recent elections.

The report says that Mugabe admitted to his family and advisers that his 28-year hold on the country’s top office had ended. Mugabe, 84, is scheduled to meet with his party leaders on Friday to discuss the elections.

Zimbabwe held their presidential election last Saturday and while the results haven’t been made public the popular belief is that opposition party leader Morgan Tsyangirai came out on top. While Tsyangirai garnered more votes he wasn’t expected to secure a clear majority which could lead to a run-off with Mugabe.
