French Yacht Seized by Somali Pirates, 34 Crew Members Held Hostage

A French luxury yacht was boarded by Somali pirates as it was traveling between Somalia and Yemen and all 34 crew members are believed to be held hostage.

There were no passengers on board the yacht at the time.

French military spokesman Christophe Prazuck acknowledged the yacht, dubbed the Ponant, "was the victim of an act of piracy early this afternoon as it was sailing between Somalia and Yemen"

French and U.S. forces are in the area monitoring the situation.
