Three Sizzling Automatic Responder Strategies

Overcome Everything, Inc.

Your automatic responder may seem like a pretty basic piece of technology, but with just a few tweaks and some prior planning, you'd be amazed by how much cold hard cash you and your automatic responder can crank out...

In general, people under-use their automatic responders to send out newsletters or even just blast emails. That's like using a laptop as a doorstop. If you're not employing one or all of the following strategies for email autoresponder success, then I can almost guarantee you're not making as much money as you could be...

Automatic Responder Strategy #1: Your followup sequence. Almost every email autoresponder on the planet allows you to set up a series of emails to go out on autopilot, so why not use it intelligently? An email autoresponder series can fire off pre-written emails every day of the year, but when you're getting started, just focus on the first three... Pick the action you want people to take, whether it's buying a product, calling for a free consultation or downloading an ebook or report - and draft up three quick emails to go in your automatic responder for the first three weeks after someone joins your list. That way, you'll never be “ignoring” new leads - and all of the immediate follow-up is done in the background by your email autoresponder, freeing you up to do other more crucial things.

Automatic Responder Strategy #2: Increase your social visibility. Add an email or two to your automatic responder asking your subscribers to become fans of your FaceBook page. Get them to follow you on twitter too. And if you have a blog, ask them to subscribe to your RSS feed. A sizable fraction of people will undoubtedly unsubscribe from your automatic responder series along the way, but if you open up more social avenues to communicate with them, you won't lose the lead entirely…

Automatic Responder Strategy #3: Talk with your list. Add in emails to your automatic responder series asking for a prompt reply from your subscribers. Ask them a question, or give them an assignment that they have to send back to you, and make sure to set up a special email address just for that purpose. This will make you more of a “real person” to them instead of just another marketer in their inbox.

On top of that, it allows you the chance to get a valuable insight into your potential customers heads, hearts, and lives. Find out what their struggles are - what problems they face. After you have a good finger on the pulse of your list you'll be able to craft uniquely relevant offers targeted at them, instead of shooting in the dark and hoping it works. Too many marketers leave their automatic responder series' empty, save for maybe a “Thank You for Signing Up” message. And it's a shame. They're missing out on some incredibly valuable ways to sell more, bond with their lists in a more meaningful way, and increase their social exposure.
