Heart Recipient kills himself 12 years after donor killed himself

Terry Cottle killed himself more than 12 years ago, his heart was donated and the recipient Sonny Graham ended up with Terry Cottle’s heart and his wife.

Graham after receiving the transplant wrote Cottle’s widow Cheryl to extend his gratitude the two met fell in love and were later married.

Graham who resided in Vidalia, Ga. did what most would think was the unexpected he too killed himself the same way Terry Cottle did with a single gun shot wound to his throat.

Graham was 69 years old.

He was found with a single gunshot wound to the throat, said Greg Harvey, a special agent working the case for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He was found in a utility building in his backyard and had used a shotgun, Harvey said.

A medical examiner in Savannah performed an autopsy Wednesday and concluded that no foul play is suspected.

Graham along with the heart that gave two man life was laid to rest Friday in Lyons, Ga.
