Protestors in Paris demonstrating against China’s crackdown in Tibet disrupted the Olympic torch relay on Monday resulting in four arrests and the extinguishing of the flame at least twice by officials as a safety precaution.
Some 3,000 police were on hand to protect the route of the flame while about 500 demonstrators were out to protest the Beijing Games and more specifically the recent violence in Tibet.
One several occasions protestors attempted to grab the Olympic torch from runners but police were able to prevent the flame from being extinguished yet twice the torch was put out and placed on a bus for transportation.
A day earlier the protests were just as active in London as police arrested 37 people who attempted to disrupt the Olympic relay through the city.
