Students for a Free Tibet Claim Responsibility for Golden Gate Bridge Demonstration

Three people have scaled the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA and unfurled two banners reading “One World One Dream” and “Free Tibet.”

 

Authorities have arrested a four people that were on the ground but the three who climbed the structure remain nearly 750 feet above the water that the Golden Gate Bridge spans. Shortly after the climb began Students for a Free Tibet claimed responsibility.

 

The organization has protested the human rights violations committed by China in relation to Tibet. The demonstration comes just two days before the Olympic flame is scheduled to move through San Francisco.

 

Police are now waiting for the men to climb down from the cables and have made clear they will arrest the three when they touch ground.
