HotDocs Corporation Announces Shake-Up in Product Offering

Company realigns feature sets, changes the names of several of its products, and launches a new product in an effort to streamline operations and to better suit the needs of its global customer base

Lindon, Utah and Edinburgh, Scotland – June 4, 2010 – HotDocs Corporation today announced that its product lineup has undergone significant changes, which will be implemented beginning  with the summer 2010 release of the HotDocs 10 suite. The company’s flagship product, HotDocs Professional, a text-based, document automation toolset, has been renamed HotDocs Developer. PDF Advantage, a program that provides graphical-forms automation functionality to HotDocs Professional, will no longer be sold separately. Rather, PDF Advantage has become a feature set within the new HotDocs Developer. HotDocs Standard, a scaled-back automation tool for small enterprises, has been renamed HotDocs Developer LE (Limited Edition). And a new product has been added to the suite, HotDocs User, which is a desktop, document assembly (template deployment) program designed specifically for enterprises not yet ready to make the jump to the server environment. Just as with HotDocs Developer, full PDF functionality will be built into HotDocs User.

“Historically, HotDocs Standard was used not only as a template automation tool but also as a template deployment tool,” commented Leonard DuCharme, the company’s Marketing VP. “This created a problem for enterprises that didn’t want end users of templates to have automation capability on their desktops. The new HotDocs User solves this problem. Because HotDocs Standard will now be marketed solely as a scaled-back version of HotDocs Developer, it rightly has been renamed HotDocs Developer LE.”

“The other major change in the company’s product lineup, eliminating PDF Advantage as a standalone product, was a matter of streamlining,” commented Michael Sites, the company’s head of operations in the USA. “We have fewer products to manage, which simplifies both licensing and packaging. Likewise, folding PDF functionality into HotDocs Developer and HotDocs User means a reduction in code, which simplifies the maintenance and release process.”

The HotDocs 10 suite will be released in June of 2010 and will include significant upgrades to all products in the suite.
