The 2-year-old son of former NFL star Randall Cunningham
was reportedly found dead in the family’s hot tub on Tuesday. Las Vegas police say
the boy, who they have not identified, was found floating in the hot tub by a
family member around 4:30 p.m.
The family member performed CPR, but was unable to save
the child. Cunningham was not at home at the time of the tragedy. He was
reportedly flying into Los Vegas.
“It appears that it’s just a complete tragedy,” says
Metro Lt. Dennis Flynn. “It only takes a brief minute for someone to take their
eye off the child.”
Cunningham, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles,
Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens, has not commented. He retired
from the NFL in 2001 and became an ordained minister. Cunningham founded the
Remnant Ministries in Las Vegas in 2004. The church’s website says Cunningham
and wife Felicity have four children -- Randall II, Vashti, Grace and Christian.
