Stone Temple Pilots Announce Reunion Tour Dates Tuesday

Stone Temple Pilots confirmed in a press conference that they are reunited and announced their reunion tour dates Tuesday. The band will play a 65-date tour through North America in 2008.

Scott Weiland recently split from Velvet Revolver, allowing him to reunite with his former band. The split caused Weiland and his former Velvet Revolver bandmates to engage in mudslinging via statements on the Internet.

The tour will be the band's first in six years and will kick off on May 17 at the Rock On The Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio. They also announced that the tour includes dates on May 23 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the Indy 500 and the 2008 Edgefest on July 12 in Toronto.

Live Nation will produce many dates on the upcoming 65-date tour. The group's last tour in 2002 grossed nearly $1.3 million from 13 concerts that drew approximately 42,000 concertgoers.

STP will also make their first national live appearance on the The Late Show With Jimmy Kimmel on May 1.

Stone Temple Pilots launched a new website and a fan club Monday, in which members will have access to pre-sale tickets for the upcoming tour, as well as premium seating and VIP packages.

STP (Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz) will record new material and will look to have an album in 2008. The band's last album was 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da," which has sold 364,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
