Olympic Flame Arrives in San Francisco, Security Tight Prior to Relay

Security is tight in San Francisco as organizers prepare for the Olympic torch relay, an event that has been plagued by protestors and demonstrations throughout Europe over the past few days.

This will be the only stop in the U.S. for the Olympic torch but yesterday protestors in San Francisco already set the stage for tense moments as three members of the Students for a Free Tibet scaled the Golden Gate Bridge and unfurled signs that read “One World One Dream” and “Free Tibet.”

Protestors have targeted the Olympic torch relay as a means of bringing to light China’s recent upsurge in violence in Tibet and violations of human rights.

In London and Paris the relay was met with heavy demonstrations resulting in several arrests.
