Georgia State Capitol Site of Third Drug Education Display

Narconon Drug Rehab Educates Children

After hosting a drug education display in the Georgia State Capitol aimed at lawmakers, Narconon Drug Rehab in Georgia, a non 12-step drug rehab program, hosted another educational display in the same location on April 1st.

“The response we got from our first display was overwhelming,” stated Mr. Gordy Weinand, spokesperson for Narconon Drug Rehab. “Last year we had many people come through the exhibit, but this time we did not have time to talk to all the people a week ago. We decided to host another display, and focus our education on Georgia kids and teenagers who toured the Capitol.”

The display, which took up the entire West Wing of the Georgia State Capitol, focused on drug facts. It featured information on methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and crack addiction.

The display boards and educational videos on display showed the shocking effects of drugs on users. Some facts portrayed:

-Nearly half of the high school seniors in Georgia recently surveyed had tried marijuana

-One third of students in Georgia reported being offered, sold or given an illegal drug on school property within the past year.

-Over 70,000 Georgia teenagers, between ages of twelve to seventeen, reported using an illicit drug within a recent month period.

Mr. Weinand stated: “When kids try drugs they don’t realize that with some drugs they can become almost immediately addicted the first time they try it.  Our voices need to be louder than the voices of drug pushers in the school yard.”

Hundreds of pamphlets were distributed, with many participants requesting more.

“We had a great turn-out and we hope to continue educating people on the dangers of drug abuse and the need for drug education and drug rehabilitation,” concluded Mr. Weinand.
