FBI Captures Cesar Laurean, Marine Wanted in Murder of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach

The FBI has apprehended Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, the serviceman wanted in the brutal murder of pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach in December of last year.

Agents finally tracked Laurean, already charged with the murder, down in Mexico and with the help of Mexican authorities were able to detain him. Lauren remains held in Mexico awaiting extradition.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Laurean on January 12 but the Marine had already fled from his North Carolina home.

Lauterbach went missing in the middle of December and by the 17^th the Marines began a search for the woman. On the 19^th of December her mother reported her missing and three weeks later police found her charred remains in a pit in Laurean’s back yard.
