High school art teacher Jolita Berry reprimanded a female student, and wound up the victim of a beating that was recorded on a cellphone camera and then posted on the Internet.
The beating has prompted Baltimore city and school officials to call for more resources to deal with classroom violence. According to Teacher’s union President Marietta English, two or three complaints of assaults on teachers is received every day.
Although Berry’s attacker has been suspended, Berry says she is afraid to return to the classroom.
