Vermont Mother Drowns Self, Two Daughters

A Vermont mother of two is believed to have intentionally drowned her two children and herself after wading into a strong brook near her parent’s house and allowing the current to sweep them to their death on Saturday.

Nicole Waring and her two children were reported missing on Saturday. An officer spotted the mother and a child standing near the Wardsboro Brook and attempted to speak with her but she ignored him and walked into the water while holding her child.

Waring positioned herself near a rock in waist-deep water and when the officer tried to reach her she pushed away from the rock and allowed the current to carry her and her 6-year-old daughter. The bodies of the two were found downstream on Saturday while Waring’s 2 1/2-year-old daughter was found on Sunday.
