Iraqi soldiers stormed a house in Basra on Monday, overpowered guards, and freed a British hostage who had spent more than two months in captivity.
Richard Butler, a CBS Journalist, was taken hostage on Feb. 10 while on assignment in Basra.
On Monday Iraqi soldiers had been conducting routine operations and searches in the area and when they approached the house that Butler was being held in guards opened fire on the soldiers and a gunfight ensued. Soldiers stormed the house and found Butler with a hood over his head but in good health.
