Malt-O-Meal Cereal Recall Due to Salmonella Poisoning

Malt-O-Meal has issued a voluntary recall of their cereal after it may be contaminated with salmonella. The company has recalled Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice cereals that have a “Best if used by date” between April 2008 and March 2009.

The recalled products are sold under the brands; Shaw’s, ShopRite, Tops, Weis Quality, Food Club, Hannaford’s, Acme, and America’s Choice.

“If you have bought one of these products, please take it back to the store for a full refund, and accept out apologies,” said a rep for Malt-O-Meal.

At least 23 cases of salmonella poisoning believed to be caused by the cereal have been reported.
