Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape Sold for $1.5 Million on Monday

A Marilyn Monroe sex tape that was kept in a bank vault for 40 years was sold Monday for $1.5 million (£750,000) to a New York businessman.

The grainy black and white film, which lasts for 15 minutes, was shot in the 1950s and shows a naked Monroe performing oral sex on an unidentified male.

It is rumored that the tape is a copy of the original film still held by the FBI. The film first came to the attention of the FBI in the mid-1960s after being discovered by Keya Morgan, who was doing research for a documentary. The video was made before Monroe became famous.

Monroe was secretly investigated by the FBI over her affair with President John F. Kennedy and her links to mafia mobsters.

Then-FBI director J. Edgar Hoover attempted to use the video to prove that Monroe's sex partner was either John F. Kennedy or his brother Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, but Hoover was unsuccesful.

Joe DiMaggio, Monroe's ex-husband, attempted to buy the tape for $25,000 in the 1960s, but was unsuccessful as well.
