An Australian woman was preparing a salad when she found a living frog in a prepackaged bag of spinach. The Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog was sent to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the Gold Coast and named Popeye.
Popey is perfectly healthy, although veterinarian Mimi Dona notes that he is very hungry. She also says he is not the only “accidental hitchhiker” found in packaged foods. “About 50,000 frogs every year end up in packages.”
Dona believes the frog was in the bag for up to four days.
