Officer Kills Cougar in Chicago

A Chicago police officer shot and killed a cougar that was loose in a residential area. Residents reported seeing the animal over the weekend and early Monday. Cougar sightings in Illinois are rare.

It is unclear if the 150-pound cougar was wild or kept as a pet. Police say they will check the cat for and chips or markings that will determine if it was a pet.
