Man Arrested for Trying to Steal a Gun from an Officer the Day he Was Released from Jail

39 year olf Hisanori Umezu was released from jail Kyoto Sunday and was arrested later than evening for assaulting an officer in an attempt to steal his gun.

Umezu allegedly attacked the officer with a cutter knife as he tried to steal his gun.  According to police reports, the officer was assaulted in front of Toyohashi station in the Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture at around 5:00 pm.

The suspect was quoted as saying, “I didn’t have any money at all.  I needed a gun.”
