Man Reprogrammed Video Game to Propose to Girlfriend

Bernie Peng proposed to his girlfriend, Tammy Li, by reprogramming her favorite video game, Bejeweled.  When Li reached a certain score a message would pop up and ask the question.  When Li scored high enough and saw the message, she said yes.

Peng says it was a difficult task that gook him a month to complete.  “I thought it was pretty cool, in a nerdy way,” he told the Star Ledger of Newark.

The happy couple will marry over Labor Day weekend.  PopCap, the Seattle based company that made “Bejeweled” will be flying the couple to Seattle for their honeymoon.

Garth Chouteau, PopCap spokesman has stated, “Most video game companies would frown on people manipulating their games…But it won him a woman.  As a bunch of geeks we have to say, ‘Bernie, hats off to you.’”

PopCap will also supply copies of the game, “Bejeweled”, as wedding favors for the guests.
